Holly Ridge sits right where the mainland meets the road onto the island, and it has changed faster than anywhere else we work. We run weekly and bi-weekly routes through the town and the newer developments spreading out around it.

The fastest-growing town we serve

The numbers here are genuinely striking. Holly Ridge had 1,268 residents in 2010. By the 2020 census it had 4,171 — an increase of nearly 229% in a single decade, which makes it one of the fastest-growing towns in North Carolina.

What that looks like from a truck: street after street of houses that are only a few years old, with young families, new fences, and a lot of dogs who arrived at the same time their owners did. Whole neighborhoods where nobody has an established yard service because the neighborhood didn’t exist long enough to have one.

Which is why neighborhood pricing works so well here

On a street where everyone moved in around the same time, everyone tends to have the same problem at the same time. Get three or more homes signed up together and every one of them drops to the neighborhood rate — not just whoever organized it.

We’ve found it takes one message in a street group chat. Here’s how neighborhood pricing works →

A bit of local history

It’s not the first time Holly Ridge has grown this fast. In 1940 the town had 28 residents. Three years later it had around a thousand, after the Army built Camp Davis here as an anti-aircraft training base. When the base closed the population fell away again for decades before starting to climb back.

The old Camp Davis land is an industrial park now. We mention it partly because it’s a good story and partly because it explains why the street layout around town makes so little sense until somebody tells you.

The shared ZIP code

Holly Ridge shares ZIP 28445 with Surf City and Topsail Beach, spread across two counties — a longstanding local annoyance that sends mail sideways and occasionally applies sales tax to the wrong county entirely. Some service companies get genuinely confused about who’s where.

We schedule by street name, so it never affects your service day.
